The Brotherhood Blitz is an opportunity for an eligible Ordeal member to complete Brotherhood in one afternoon, outside of a lodge weekend. There is no cost… it is FREE ! However, your dues must be current (paid for 2016 or later).
If you took the Ordeal in 2015 or before, then you are eligible to “seal your membership” at the Brotherhood Blitz. Brothers who took the Ordeal in 2016 are not eligible to complete Brotherhood until 2017 — ten months must have elapsed since the Ordeal to be eligible for Brotherhood.
The Brotherhood Blitz “publicity flyer and FAQ” has all the details about this event.
Interested Ordeal members should download all the following documents to be ready for the Brotherhood Blitz… the pace is fast… it is essential to “Be Prepared.”
The letter form is for your convenience, it is not required. If you choose to use it, you must print a copy, sign it, and turn it in at the Brotherhood Blitz — do not e-mail it. Alternatively, you can use your favorite word processor, or a pen, to write your letter in the traditional manner.
The password for the Brotherhood Question & Answer Sheet is the fifth word of the title on page 11 of the 2015 edition of the Order of the Arrow Handbook; it is on page 10 in earlier editions.
Do not be intimidated… Brotherhood is not difficult… it is about choosing to learn more about the Order of the Arrow and understanding all the opportunities available within the lodge.

Brothers,
Summer is starting in June, and blood donations are becoming more and more in demand because of donors vacationing. Because our lodge is doing a blood drive for our Day of Service project, we encourage you to go out this month and donate blood to one of the blood drives in our county. Also, in September, we will host a blood drive ourselves. Please make sure that when you donate in June, you will also be eligible to donate during the September weekend. (Blood donations must be at least 56 days apart.) Blood drives that you can attend are below. Please remember that you must be at least 17 and over 110 lbs. in order to donate blood.

Also, our lodge wanted to add in a food drive as well. The summer break for schools are approaching quickly. That means that many children will go without free lunch for the whole summer. In response to that, we need to all donate food for them. The Day of Service committee wants to start a peanut butter and jelly food drive. The jars of peanut butter and jelly last longer and can be made into more meals for children. Please bring all of your food donations to Headquarters during the June weekend.
It means a lot to our community that we are willing to step in and help with the needs that they require assistance with. Please do what you can to make our community a better place.

The Chester Council County Order of the Arrow Lodge, Octoraro 22, is hosting a Council-wide Cub Scout recruiting effort at Camp Ware. This year’s event promises to be more action packed then last years, including an overnight at the Camp. If you decide to come down for the day – registration will open at 9:00 AM Saturday but it is “come when you can, leave when you must”. We encourage ALL Cub Scouts (Tigers to Arrow of Lights) to bring a friend with them to share the fun of Cub Scouting. The cost of the program will be $10/youth and an additional $5/additional family member. All Cub Scouts that bring a friend will be refunded the cost of the program. The program activities include a night hike, a campfire, BB Shooting, Slingshot paintball, Bottle Rockets launching and other fun activities. Advancement opportunities will be made available. We will also have activities showing Webelos the cool things the Boys Scouts do!
We encourage Packs and Dens to come as units but the event is open to everyone.
The September Fellowship weekend allows new Ordeal and Brotherhood members to be inducted while providing service to the camp combined with special fellowship and games. The Lodge elections also take place this weekend.
